Event Decor and Design: Night/Shift with The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art

In December, designwise KC had the opportunity to join the vendor team for the Nelson-Atkins Museum’s 92nd Birthday Celebration at Night/Shift: Ultravivid. We assisted with the set design of the stage for performances, where we set up a number of our colorful giant flowers and faux trees to create a lush and vibrant environment for the event.

The event coincided with the museum exhibition Painted Worlds: Color and Culture in Mesoamerican Art, and hosted 1,153 guests throughout the night.

According to the Nelson-Atkins website “Night/Shift shakes up the museum every few months with a free and free-form evening of creative encounters. Featuring live art, live acts, and fresh ways to explore the galleries, each Night/Shift spotlights Kansas City’s creative community and connects ideas across 5,000 years of artistic expression.”

Jon Sabillon created a DJ set based on the energy of live plants - meaning, the plants pick the songs played during the live performance - how cool is that?!

Jamogi & The Jammers band wrapped up the live set celebrating the Nelson-Atkins 92nd birthday celebration.

Be sure to check out our set up with a few pictures from the night below. You can check out more photos from the event here.
